We publish plain-English guides about Windows PC performance and maintenance — what actually slows a computer down, and what an ordinary user can do about it without a workshop or a technician.
Who we are
digitalshieldernex.com is owned and operated by Digital Shielder Nex LLC, a company registered in the United States and based in Austin, Texas. We are a small independent publisher. We do not manufacture hardware, and we do not develop the software we write about.
What we publish
Our guides deal with the everyday problems that make a Windows machine feel slower than it should: start-up programs that pile up over the years, drives that run out of breathing room, cooling that quietly degrades, updates that fail without saying so, and the layers of temporary files and registry leftovers that accumulate with every install and uninstall.
Each guide is written to be read in one sitting. Where a step can be checked in Windows itself — Task Manager, Storage settings, Update history — we say where to look, so you can verify the situation on your own machine before spending anything.
How this site is funded
We do not charge readers, and we do not sell subscriptions. This site is funded through advertising and affiliate partnerships with software vendors. When a page recommends a product and you download or buy it through our link, we may receive a commission from the vendor. The price you pay is not affected.
That relationship is disclosed on every page that carries a recommendation, and it is set out in full in our Disclaimer. We think you should always know when a page is advertising, and we would rather say so plainly than bury it.
Editorial position. A commercial relationship shapes which products we can feature, and we do not pretend otherwise. What it does not change is the description of the underlying problem: the technical explanations on this site are written to be accurate whether or not you ever click a download button.
What we are careful about
- We describe what a maintenance tool generally does — we do not claim to have scanned your computer, and no page here reports findings about your specific machine.
- We use conditional language where outcomes genuinely vary, because they do: results depend on your hardware, its age and how the machine has been used.
- We link to the vendor's own licence agreement, privacy policy, support desk and uninstall instructions before you download anything.
- We are not affiliated with Microsoft Corporation, and Windows is Microsoft's trademark, not ours.

Please note that we cannot provide technical support for third-party software — the vendor's own support desk handles that, and will be faster than we could be.
